Guest and member introductions, 14 members attended in person.
Approval of 02-12-25 meeting’s minutes. Motion was made to approve by Ed (KF5EIG) and seconded by Tim (W5TNM). The vote was unanimous with no objections.
Approval of the Agenda. Motion to approve by Greg (KF5TTO), seconded by Michael (KT5KLM).
Treasurer Report: As provided by Ed (KF5EIG) presented by Donovan (K2AH) February deposits was $224.94 from membership dues. February Expenses were $343.69, for Club Snacks, KCEC, ARRL Books, with an ending balance of $18,099.63. Anyone with questions can email Ed (KF5EIG), and running ledger will be added to the shack bulletin board. Motion to approve by Leonardo (KF5ORZ), seconded by Zach (W5ZAC).
President’s Remarks: President Donovan (K2AH) made the President’s remarks and introduction.
a. New Mexico QSO Party will happen on April 12, 2025, Saturday all day with a presence at the OPD planned. All interested people are welcome to attend. Email reminders will be sent out.
b. Request from anyone attending the Rocky Mountain Ham fest. Tim (W5TNM) gave an update on presentations and give-away prizes. A LORA presentation was made with over 100 people in attendance.
c. OPD internet access situation was discussed. iInternet access is needed for browsing, repeater connectivity, radio programming, license testing etc. Donovan (K2AH) reached out to Kit Carson Electric for possible service and pricing. A drop is accessible with minimal cost/effort. Prices were researched including Taosnet. The TARC board was contacted for approval and a motion was put forth fourth by Ed (KF5EIG) for club approval for Kit Carson Internet fee of $700.00 dollars a year with no commitment or contract. No discussion. Approved by membership.
d. Report, Taos Middle School Science Fair by Donvan (K2AH) 5 TARC members assisted the science fair, with 85 projects to judge, with large turnout. Special thanks to Ed (KF5EIG) with student help on soldering.
e. Report, Arroyo Seco Elementary School by Donovan (K2AH) that Keith is working closely with teachers and staff on AI and will update in the future.
f. DMR Net Control for March 26, 2025, will need a substitute for DMR NET Control and is a good opportunity for member experience running nets, experience with ARES protocols and requirements. Any interest should be directed to Donovan (K2AH).
New Business:
a. Update on DOH FCC Licensing by Tim (W5TNM). Posters announcing class and testing are placed around town. Three people will be conducting the test class at OPD. Seven people have already signed up. Radio ad spot will air on 93.5 FM in April at no cost to the club. Expectations are that the class will fill up to capacity.
b. Update on FCC Test Session, March 8, 2025, by Donovan (K2AH): One applicant from Sante Fe passed the exam. Will follow up with FCC credentials.
Old Business
a. Grants Update: Keith (K5FS) not present, no update.
b. TARC social media FB and Instagram presence – No updates from Darien (NM5DF).
c. ARES update, as Brian (NB5R) was unavailable, no update.
Repeater Report/Update: None.
Monthly TARC VHF and DMR net will be held on 03/26/25, with the HF next scheduled for the following Friday at 8 PM.
