About Us

TaosARC is an ARRL affiliated club. TAOS AMATEUR RADIO CLUB (TaosARC) is a non profit 501c(3) corporation, located and formed in New Mexico. TaosARC was formed in 2012 by a few of us who thought it was time for a new amateur radio club in northern New Mexico.

Lew Baker, K5LEW (SK), Dave Raskin, W5TYL, Michael Kittredge, NM5MK, Derek Davis, KF5MDN, Mickey Blake, N5TSW, and John Wheatley, W5JHW met at Taos Ski Valley to discuss forming the club, and the rest is history.

TaosARC first began meeting at the Kit Carson Electric Coop Board Room. Kit Carson Coop has been very good to us over the years. TaosARC relocated to the Taos County Emergency Management Center when the building was completed. In March of 2022 TaosARC moved to its new location at the Town of Taos Old Police Dispatch Center or OPD located at 107 Civic Plaza Drive.

TaosARC has a multi position, multi radio ham station. TaosARC assisted the county in forming the purchase orders and installing the equipment. The $20,000.00 in equipment was purchased through a grant from the US Department of Homeland Security. TaosARC provides for its operation and upkeep.

TaosARC does volunteer work all over Northern New Mexico, from providing support for The Fiestas, to helping coordinate bicycle races.
